We went to market looking for a seasoned Brand, Corporate Marketing, and/or Communications leader with 15+ years of experience in elevating brands and executives’ personal profiles. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller and writer, capable of defining a company’s narrative with a high standard of quality while leading a small but impactful team. With 10+ years of leadership experience, they excel at managing top talent and external agencies, particularly in enterprise SaaS and growth-stage or post-IPO environments.

The Scale leadership team specifically wanted the CMO to be based in the Bay Area, because they come to the office three times a week. Luckily there’s a lot of talent in the Bay Area, but more specifically trust and culture fit amongst the Partners of the firm with the CMO was critical, because many of them have worked together for 10 – 20+ years, and the team wanted to find someone they could work and partner with for years to come. Developing a close partnership with Scale’s Operating Partner, hiring manager for the CMO, was important to best understand the type of leader that would be the best fit for the organization for the long term.
